Super Bowl Champions Ready for Training Camp

They say “everything in moderation”, but sometimes we have to enjoy life and feast while the getting is good. While I enjoyed the Baltimore Ravens Super Bowl ride and the aftermath of celebrations, I also hit the wall and had to slow down.

It’s not easy bleeding purple, but thankfully I survived the free agent frenzy and said good bye to some of the players I cheered for last season.

It was fun watching the Ravens reap the rewards of being World Champions. They went to the White House and met President Barack Obama. They received their Super Bowl rings, a lifelong reminder of their 2012 championship title.

The dust settled and I knew it was time to say good bye to the past and hello to the future. Like the Ravens, I had a fun run, but I was burned out and needed a break from writing.

My break was nice, but with training camp starting in two weeks now is a good time for me to dip my toes in the water and slowly submerge myself in purple.

It will take time to get used to the new faces at training camp; the first one without former linebacker Ray Lewis. Lewis, a career Raven, retired after last season. He was the leader of the team and the lack of his presence is sure to be felt on the practice field.

The Ravens have some questions to answer before the regular season starts on September 5 and I have complete faith in their ability to figure it out and find the right answers.

Winning the Super Bowl is hard, repeating is even harder and while I don’t expect a repeat, I hope for a competitive team and a dog in the fight. Even if they take a step back, I will cheer for them. It is hard bleeding purple, but I wouldn’t trade it for the world.
